Depending on the type of hairstyle you are going for, if you want a way to dry your natural hair without damage, you could try air drying it. However, this can without a doubt take some time. Another non-damaging way to dry your hair is with a towel. Specifically, a microfiber towel. Compared to the popular and commonly used cotton terry towels, microfiber towels can be a more compatible and beneficial alternative for your hair. Microfiber towels are comprised of a fiber material measuring one denier or less.
Here is a look at the benefits of microfiber towels for natural hair:

1) Helps to lessen frizz
One of the benefits of microfiber towels for natural hair is that they can help to limit frizz as you dry your hair. The smoother microfiber material creates less friction on your strands. This feature is more gentle on your natural curl pattern and thus helps to keep the hair cuticle smoothed.
To compare, the material of cotton terry towels is not as gentle on your strands. Cotton terry towels are known to cause frizzy as they are a bit more coarse in texture. So, making the switch to microfiber towels in your hair care regimen can be a favorable choice.
2) Microfiber material can help to prevent snags
One annoyance of using cotton towels is the snagging that they sometimes cause throughout your hair. The tiny loops on cotton terry towels can easily get intertwined with your strands. This can, of course, be damaging on your hair and lead to breakage. A microfiber material is more gentle and smoother on your strands. As a result, microfiber towels can help to prevent snags.
This can in turn help you to prevent breakage. So, one of the benefits of using microfiber towels for your natural hair is that you won’t have to worry about your drying towel pulling and tugging on your strands. Simply pat your hair dry and the job will get done.
3) Absorbs water without causing excessive dryness

When looking for efficient ways to dry your hair, we all want an alternative that can speed up drying times without damage. Microfiber towels are able to quickly absorb water, shortening your drying time, without leaving your hair feeling excessively dry. This makes microfiber towels a great pre-step for styling.
4) Won’t leave traces of lint
Another bonus of using microfiber towels on your natural hair is that they won’t leave lint balls throughout your hair. This is a common annoyance when using cotton terry towels. The quick absorbent properties of microfiber towels prevents you from having to rub the towel throughout your hair and leave traces of lint behind. Additionally, the closely woven material of microfiber limits the transfer of these lint fibers.
5) More gentle on your hair
In the effort to attain healthier strands and retain length, it is essential that you are always being gentle with your strands. A microfiber towel can help with just that. It is comprised of a smoother, soft material that is suitable for textured hair types which are often more fragile in nature.
When using microfiber towels, there is less friction as you don’t have to manipulate your hair as much to dry it. On top of that, microfiber towels quickly soak up water without leaving the hair feeling excessively dry. This helps to maintain softness and easier manageability in your hair.

It sure got my attention when you said that one of the benefits of using a microfiber hair towel is that it helps lessen frizz on your hair because it creates less friction. I’ve always struggled with dry and frizzy hair, which is the reason why I am looking for a microfiber hair towel. I’ll be sure to look for the best-reviewed towel online. Thanks for telling me the benefits of using this type of towel!
Glad we could help!
I am surprised to see that a microfiber towel will absorb the water in my hair without causing excessive dryness. For a regular beachgoer such as myself, I often find myself dealing with the repercussions of excessive towel-usage in order to get my hair dry enough to drive back home, and as a result, my hair finds itself drying out and drifting a bit closer to the hay territory of texture. Further research will be needed on my part to compare if I should switch from cotton towels to microfiber towels for maximum comfort.
Thanks for your comment, Lloyd! Microfiber towels are definitely a great solution.
